Highlights from the Toasst December box

To close the year with glitz and glam, we bring you Ladeiras Do Xil Gaba Do Xil Godello Valdeorras 2018 from the Valdeorras, or Valley of Gold, in the Galicia region of Northwest Spain. The region is famous for its native Godello grape (pronounced goh-DEH-yoh), a great option for those who prefer unoaked Chardonnays. Medium-bodied with round stone fruit aromas on the nose and an inviting floral bouquet of pear, apple and fresh lemon, we dig the crisp, playful mineral notes with a long saline finish, and high acidity. This wine has range, but if you are in a fiesta spirit, try with local inspired fare such as scallop tostada with smoky chorizo, grilled Spanish bacalao, gambas ajillo or ever versatile tortilla espanola with wilted winter greens and garlic.

For our red lovers, we’re delighted to feature an exceptional wine in the form of the Cesare Bussolo Barbera Santa Lucia 2017 from the right hand of one of the most prominent Barolo makers in Piedmont. Full-bodied and dusty on the nose, with bramble, cherry, spice, pepper, warm herbal notes, it's refined on the palate with a long tannic finish. Complete with an amusing label, it's sure to be a crowd pleaser at any holiday dinner. Complement with a top quality antipasto with cured meats and cheeses, fresh taglierini pasta with dried mushroom ragù or gnocchi with spinach and ricotta cheese. More pairing suggestions available on at toasst.co.

We hope you enjoy the selections in the December box. For those who are not receiving a box this month and need to stock up, feel free to contact our wine concierge at info@toasst.co or order any of our one-off promotion boxes on our Shop page. Warm holiday wishes to you and your family. Stay healthy, be happy and we’ll see you in 2021.
