Collaborations with Aaharn and BYDEAU, Stunning Pouilly Fumé and a Touriga Nacional from Douro Valley

After months of planning, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Aaharn sommelier Kiki Sontiyart to kick off a new, premium TOASST box along with exciting events for our TOASST members:

First up is the launch of our new Somm Box series, a first of its kind collaboration bringing selections from Hong Kong’s leading sommeliers direct to your home, exclusively through TOASST. Designed to pair with the cuisine from each sommelier’s restaurant, the TOASST Somm Box consists of a 6-pack of selections from the wine lists of Hong Kong’s top restaurants delivered direct to your door. To get a taste of the collaboration with Aaharn, check out the video below.

Somm Box by Aaharn

For our first Somm Box, we teamed up with Michelin-starred Aaharn restaurant sommelier Kiki Sontiyart to curate the TOASST Somm Box by Aaharn, available on promotion to the public starting 6 April through 30 June exclusively at TOASST.co. The premium edition of the TOASST box of red and white wines is designed to pair with the restaurant’s world exploration of Thai cuisine as well as other dishes and recipes influenced by unique Southeast Asian flavors.

TOASST Somm Box by Aaharn will be available only in April to the public for HK$3500 but we are taking pre-orders from members now at a special price of HK$3250 at info@toasst.co

As an additional exclusive for TOASST members, those purchasing the Somm Box will receive a voucher for 10% off the tasting menu at Aaharn and complimentary welcome glass of champagne (terms & conditions apply).

Highlights from the TOASST April box:

Set up from scratch in 1980 by Alain and Carmen Cailbourdin, Domaine A Cailbourdin has the well-earned reputation in Pouilly producing wines with great concentration, purity and intensity of style. The winery’s stunning Les Cornets Pouilly Fumé 2018 draws from a terroir consisting mainly of limestone-clay in the slopes of Upper Loire, with high notes of a classic smokey, stoney minerality combined with floral aromas, flinty, herbal grassiness, lime and green apples mingled with white peaches and petrol. Fresh with high acidity and long, racy finish on the back palate. Dry crisp, light-medium bodied Sauvignon Blanc is perfect as an aperitif especially as we head into the warmer months. Starter suggestions include fresh goat cheese or creamy brie, raw seafood such as smoked salmon crostini or scallop crudo. Try also with spicy Thai tom yum soup or Japanese tempura.

Established in 1716 and one of the oldest estates in the Douro Valley, Quinta do Vallado is also part of the Douro Boys, a band of 5 producers shaping the future of still wines in Portugal. Their Touriga Nacional Red 2017 entices with deep, inviting dark cherry, berries, vanilla and violet aromas with grippy tannins that don't overpower despite being a full-bodied, high ABV wine. High acidity and tight tannic structure due to its age yet with more elegance on the nose than most Portuguese wines with a long, fresh finish and round mouthfeel. A powerful, tannic wine like this one with strong fruit flavors needs robust meats or bold ingredients with substance. Think rich, mature cheeses, BBQ meats and traditional Portuguese fish or pork stews.

Also don’t forget that Mother’s Day is just around the corner! We are featuring a number of new offerings on our site, including a new Sparkling Box and a special Mother’s Day gift package in partnership with Bydeau featuring wines and flowers.
