Highlights from the TOASST June box:

The Vietti Roero Arneis DOCG 2019 is the perfect white wine companion for the summer. The Vietti family brought the ancient grape Arneis back from obscurity to create a dry white wine that Piedmont could call its own and we’re all better off because of it. Pale sunshine yellow color in the glass with yeasty, nutty and perfumed citrus nose with notes of lemon zest, marzipan, wet stone minerality and lingering finish. It’s a super versatile medium-bodied dry white food pairing wine that stands well as an aperitif and pairs with everything from nutty, soft and creamy to medium firm cheese such as Boursault, Tomme de Savoie or Beaufort. Serve with a Thai chicken salad, lightly grilled seafood or chicken dish, or shrimp pasta with fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes.

Named after the boutique vineyard's ancient vilafonte soils from the Paarl region in Western Cape, South Africa, the Vilafonté Seriously Old Dirt 2018 is an accessible full-bodied Bordeaux blend of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The brainchild and project between former Robert Mondavi winemaker Zelma Long and Opus One viticulturist Phillip Freese, it’s a serious treat behind a fun label. Take in the silky round tannins with a velvety finish, balanced acidity with notes of bright cherry fruit, cassis, vanilla, spices and coco with savoury, herbal undertones. With more parts Malbec and Merlot, this wine deserves food that packs a punch. Think aged cheese such as a Comté or Gouda, grilled flank steak, mushroom stroganoff, seared duck breast with cherry sauce or a simply dressed roast chicken with a rich potato au gratin. Note that we have a very limited allocation of this one so stock up now at info@toasst.co.
