Uncovering New World wine gems with Ministry of Clouds Mataro and Carrick Pinot Gris

With the step into Fall comes the change in the seasonal latte menu as well as a welcomed shift in the types of food and the wines that we enjoy with them. While some of us in Hong Kong may associate the start of autumn by celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with lanterns and mooncakes, there are those also looking forward to pumpkin spice lattes, minced and pecan pies and all the trimmings in between.

At Toasst we’re excited to announce new Fall promotions to complement the onset of celebrations and gatherings that usher us into the holiday season. With many of us entertaining more at home these days, the following Toasst boxes are designed to make the seasons' gatherings more festive and complement meals from opening toast to the wee hours:

Highlights from the Toasst October box

We stumbled across this treasure in McLaren Vale in the form of Ministry of Clouds Mataro 2015 and knew it would be an instant hit with our members. Made with 100% Mataro, (also known also as Mourvedre and Monastrell), this full-bodied wine packs a punch with high acidity, bright cherry fruit nose, plums, blueberries and a clear pure herbal clove edge mingled with oak with a lengthy silky tannic finish.

Popping over to New Zealand, we fell in love with the Alsatian style, 100% estate grown, Carrick Pinot Gris 2018 from Bannockburn in Central Otago. The winery's dedication to the environment is evident with their use of wild yeast, homemade compost, hand harvesting and 100% organic certification. With a hint of residual sugar and aged in old French barrels, this medium-bodied wine sings with pear, apple, lemon, citrus and a stony mineral nose, an off dry, sweet tinge and surprisingly clean acidity and texture.

As a special exclusive to our subscribers, note that the wines in the October Toasst box are sold only to restaurants and subsequently not available at retail. Contact your wine concierge at info@toasst.co if you’ve tasted something simply irresistible that you must have again. If we are out of stock, we’ll do our best to suggests a similar wine (usually everyone comes away happy with this option!).

Feeling social? Heck, we are! As we near our 1-year anniversary, we hope to be able to share some news regarding events for our loyal supporters who have stuck it out with us since the beginning as well as new friends. In the meantime, for those who wanted to give us a shout out and share with other Toasst members and wine lovers, be sure to tag @toasstwines on Instagram and Facebook.

Keep safe, be well, drink better wine.
